Social Story Maker
Overview
Social Story Maker is being designed to provide parents, educators, and caregivers to quickly and easily author a social story. The software will be free, allowing all users to have an opportunity to benefit from using it. Authors can start from a template containing a complete social story, and simply customize the story as needed for their situation.
The author can also begin a new story from scratch, and be guided through suggested story structures. Users can easily drag and drop images, animations, sounds, and text to create pages and complete their story.
Regardless of how the story was originally written, gender, hair, age and other attributes will be automatically changed to match the reader. This will personalize the story for them, and allow stories to be shared and used by a wider community.
Project Goals
Social Story Maker will include optional reward systems for the reader, set by the parent or caregiver for successfully completing a story, or for following the rules of the story. The ability to share stories with other families, schools, facilities and support groups will be a key feature of the product. Social Story Maker will allow sharing and rating stories through a variety of existing platforms, including Facebook and Pintrest. Our goal is not only to provide a tool, but to help form a community can learn what has worked for other situations.
Stories help readers remember and understand the challenges they face in their day to day lives.
